Violoniste français né en 1988, Hugues Girard se forme au Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris (CNSMDP) et à la Horschule de Hambourg avant de fonder très vite le Quatuor Girard auprès du Quatuor Ysaÿe.

En 2011 le Quatuor Girard devient lauréat du Concours de Genève, de la fondation Banque Populaire, puis lauréat HSBC de l’académie du festival d’Aix-en-Provence. Il se perfectionne auprès de très grands quartettistes, Alban Berg, Artis, Keller, Lindsay, Talich et réside durant trois ans à la Chapelle Royale Reine Elisabeth de Belgique, bénéficiant ainsi d’échanges privilégiés avec le Quatuor Artemis. En tant qu’« artiste associé », il entretient également des liens étroits avec la Fondation Singer-Polignac.

Invité de salles et de festivals prestigieux en France -Auditorium du Musée d’Orsay, La FolleJournée de Nantes, Soirées et Matinées musicales d’Arles, le festival de Deauville, la Grange de Meslay… le Quatuor Girard est également demandé à l’étranger notamment en Suisse, en Italie, en Belgique, au Maroc, en Russie, au Japon, en Chine… Il associe ses activités concertistes à un effort constant de diffusion en direction de tous les publics. A ce titre, il noue régulièrement des partenariats avec des écoles primaires, collèges, lycées et conservatoires. Ses derniers albums, notamment « The Starry Sky » (Paraty 2018) et « Saint-Saëns » (B Records 2019) ont été unanimement salués par la critique.

Hugues Girard partage régulièrement la scène avec d’autres musiciens tels que Jean-Claude Pennetier, Augustin Dumay, Henri Demarquette, Raphaël Pidoux, François Salque, Gérard Caussé, Ronald Van Spaendonck, ou encore le pianiste Sebastian Ene avec qui il partage en duo une grande complicité musicale et humaine. Il obtient la confiance de l’Orchestre de Besançon comme violon solo. Il joue un violon du luthier parisien Charles Coquet prêté par l’association El Pasito.

French violin player, born in 1988, Hugues Girard is trained at the conservatory of Paris and Horschule of Hambourg, prior to create the Girard Quartet among the Ysaÿe Quartet.

The Girard Quartet were the winner of the Geneva Competition in 2011. He worked with very great quartet players, Alban Berg, Artis, Keller, Lindsay and Talich. In residence at the Queen Elisabeth of Belgium’s Royal Chapel, they benefited from close contact with the Artemis Quartet. As « associate artist », he is supported by the Singer-Polignac Foundation. Guest in many prestigious concert halls and festivals in France, he is also sought after on the international scene, notably in London’s Wigmore Hall as well as in Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Morocco, Russia, China and Japan… The Quartet combine their concert activities with an ongoing drive to make their music available to audiences of all tastes. With this in mind, they have already established joint ventures with several primary schools and music schools.

The Quartet’s recent albums, “The Starry Sky” (Paraty 2018) and “Saint-Saëns” (B Records 2019) received awards from critics.

Hugues Girard plays with internationally renowned musicians such as Jean-Claude Pennetier, Augustin Dumay, Henri Demarquette, Raphaël Pidoux, François Salque, Gérard Caussé, Ronald Van Spaendonck, and the pianist Sabastian Ene with whom he shares in duo, a deep musical and human complicity. He gains the confidence of l’Orchestre de Besançon as concert-master.

He plays a violon of the Parisian luthier Charles Coquet, borrowed from the El Pasito association.
